This is a new session. Following the advice of Leonardo, one of my roomates, I decided to create a new category where I'll be featuring exclusive videos and music videos I'd created (or will create).
For the past 4 years I've been making official (and unofficial videos) for bands that I like or bands that asked me to create something for them.
To start, I have a video (shot by Fernanda, the other roomate) during The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart's first show in Brazil. After the show, Kip came back to the stage with his guitar and played 'Contender' alone. Personally, the best moment of the show.
nightswimming (1980-2011)
R.E.M.
So R.E.M. is over. I haven't really payed attention to their whereabouts in the past 4-5 years but they were one of my favourite bands when I was a teenager.
Actually the history goes way back to 1992 or 1993 when my dad bought Automatic For The People (my absolute favourite R.E.M. album). I had 8 years old and I think my relationship with that album was the first "conscious aesthetic" relationship I had with music... the feeling that I could tell why I liked it, if asked.
Sure 'Drive', 'Everybody Hurts' (with its phenomenal video), 'Man On The Moon' are great songs but the song that elevates me in unspeakable/indescribable ways is 'Nightswimming'. Got me the first time I heard it and it still gets me, 20 years later.

fountain's head
PORCELAIN RAFT. FOUNTAIN'S HEAD (Independent, 2011)
Intricate relations between guitars and electronics, sometimes creating a creepy (good creepy) atmosphere . That's the cinematic music of italian musician (and movie maker) Mauro Remiddi.
Fountain's Head was released earlier this year and contains 4 songs filled with dreampop tension between the fragility of his voice and the harder electronic elements.
Actually the EP contains 5 songs but the closing track 'Everything From Your Hands' deserves to have its own paragraph. This 2 minute song is Remiddi's best (greatest!) moment. While the previous songs have some austere and severe elements mixed with something more subtle, 'Everything From Your Hands' features only a guitar line and Remiddi's voice creating a heartbreaking, memorable song.
You can get Fountain's Head on his bandcamp page.
