MODELS CAN'T FUCK. MOVE TO ICELAND (Independent, 2011)

Árpi Szarvas is a musician from Hungary previously featured here [interview] as Evil Men Have No Songs, a one man shoegaze band with drilling guitars and influenced mainly by pop from the 50s and 60s... 

Now he has a new project where he exercises his electronic side creating discogaze and dreampop sounds. 

Models Can't Fuck sound is a mixture of 60s psychedelia and 70s electronic artists like Kraftwerk and Brian Eno with a contemporary vintage aesthetic. 

He has two songs officially released and is planning to release two more in the near future. Although you can listen to quite a few songs from Árpi and all his projects on his soundcloud page.

'Move To Iceland' is his latest release, a song with Kraftwerk-esque melodies and lines like this: 

'Move to Iceland to be as far as I can from you...'

Pinemarten ~ Home ep (Independent, 2011)

Pinemarten is a very cute animal from the family of minks and weasels but it's also the joyful, chill ambient-ish project of a (mysterious) producer from Derbyshire, England.
'Home' and 'Bay' were released last April. Both feature calm and pretty relaxing electronics. The kind you put on to simply let your mind free to wander through... well, you. With the bonus that every now and then you can lazily move your body and it won't feel awkward.

Two young boys on their early twenties dive deep into luscious 80’s melodies and synths to create an ep called Our Future, featuring 5 tracks of chillwave/dreamwave  filled with affecting emotion.
Vintage sounds aimed to the future (our future?)… the songs are heavily romantic – thanks whispered and reverberated vocal – and are just waiting to take indiekids from the dancefloor to a dreamed balearic heaven.
Beautiful songs, strong personality and one of the best things I’ve heard in electronic fields this year.

The Telegraph Reverb ~ Mind Universe EP (BFW Recordings, 2009)

The Telegraph Reverb is a shoegaze-electronica duo from Bandung, Indonesia. Vicky takes care of programming and ambient sounds and Marino plays with synths.
The only musical register we have from them (so far?) is this little ep released on BFW, a netlabel specialized in ambient, shoegaze, experimental electronica and based in Manchester.
'Mind Universe' runs through an engaging and melodically heartfelt field, sometimes resembling early Ulrich Schnauss.
The ep is available as a free download on the BFW website...

A warm breeze is coming from "an abandoned pier on the banks of the Delaware River in beautiful Philadelphia, PA"... it brings along smooth electronic, lo-fi and chillwave songs, performed by Work Drugs.
Benjamin Louisiana and Thomas Crystal (along with Joan Wellfleet backing some songs with her sweet voice), create the perfect mood to lay back by the sea in a quiet beach (while getting stone, maybe).
As mentioned on their description: music for dancing, boating, yatching, sexting and living.
They have two EPs released: Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn (the last is a free download on last.fm).
At the moment, they're holding a 'Rad Remix' competition for their song 'Rad Racer'.

hong kong in the 60s

Hong Kong in the 60s ~ Places (Independent, 2010)

Keeping our electronic mood of the past couple of days, today we'll talk about a three piece band from London, with a strong multicultural background called Hong Kong In the 60s.
Mei Yau, Christopher and Tim main references are early electronic music, chinese music and italian movie soundtracks from the 60s. The result is a haunting combination of ambient electronics with musical references from a variety of places and eras.
Elegant, mellow, global and fresh.

They have just released their debut album called 'My Phantoms' under Proper Songs Records. And here you can download 'You Can Take a Heart But You Cannot Make It Beat', the first single from this album.

radioseven ~ radioseven (independent, 2011)

Feeling adventurous and like exploring the unknown lands of the universe (your own and ours?). Radioseven might be the perfect soundtrack for those modern souls that spend more time than they should looking to the stars and wondering why and when and where and how.
Combining guitars (echoing new wave-ish feelings) with a strong electronic base (not at all aseptic but involving and warm) , this project - created by an anonymous someone to keep it "purely artistic and ego-free" - aims to create music for late night and early morning hours.
While exchanging emails this morning, the artist said that the project "is also inspired by exploration and discovery. I'm disappointed that I've grown up with so much already discovered (like going to the moon)."

A new single is on the making and will be called 'Stellar Cartographer'.

We are back and Michael and Adam came with us with their dream-bedroom-pop, My Bloody Valentine inspirations and some California melancholy...
I'm not gonna say much because this interview is the most detailed we've ever had. I think that editing is good but here we focus on giving artists the space they need/want to say what they feel like saying. More than an interview, you'll see that it turned into a conversation between the boys.

 01. Tell us a bit about the history of the band and how did you get to the name? I mean, I think everyone knows who Bilinda Butcher is… but how the idea of naming the band after her came up?
Michal: We started the band when we were sixteen.
Adam: In the summertime.
M: Adam taught me how to play guitar a little while after we met. He showed me a few chords and we kind of just started playing together after that. We had always liked the same type of music and the same bands, so it kind of just worked out. I followed in Adam's footsteps a lot more back then, though. He showed me a lot of bands and taught me the chords and progressions that we use now, which are all jazz-based. So, we were always kind of in a band, but it was never like "oh, okay, let's be in a band." Then Adam moved to the east coast for a while and we would talk on the phone pretty regularly, and I remember asking him if he had heard My Bloody Valentine (because I was really into them at the moment), and he was like "oh my god, I love My Bloody Valentine!" Well, he was actually listening to them for a long while before I had heard them, haha, but we kind of had a strong rekindling with MBV.
I think it was a really important phase for both of us. So, after a while, Adam ended up coming back to California for a year of high school, and I just kind of proposed that we start a band. I was like, "hey, I've got a band name, let's start a band!" He loved it, and that was that.
